November 2012 Events in Hawaii

OAHU
November 9-11:  The Nutcracker
Ballet Hawaii presents The Nutcracker at Blaisdell Concert Hall. For ticket info call 800-745-3000 or visit ballethawaii.org.

November 11-12:  Veterans Day Overnight Cruise
Wild Side Specialty Tours has planned a special cruise that will take you underwater to view items left over from war times like a sunken plane and tank. You’ll also learn how dolphins have played a role during wartime. To learn more and make reservations visit their website.

November 12 – December 20:  Vans Triple Crown of Surfing
The 30th annual surfing competition will take place along the North Shore and includes a prize purse worth $925,000.

MAUI
November 3:  Henry Kapono: Home in the Islands 2012
See legendary Hawaiian musician Henry Kapono in concert at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center at 7:30pm. For tickets call 808-242-7469.

November 9:  Lahaina Second Friday
Lahaina Friday Town Parties happen the second Friday of each month and offer free entertainment and special offerings and promotions to visitors and residents. Many shops are open late.

November 19-21:  EA Sports Maui Invitational
The Maui Invitation celebrates its 29th year as the nation’s early-season college basketball tournament. Twelve games will be played at the Lahaina Civic Center and will be broadcast on ESPN networks.

BIG ISLAND
November 2:  Black and White Night
Dress in black or white for Hilo’s biggest annual strolling party. There will be live music, fashion shows, a treasure hunt, and free food and events. The Black, White & Gold Ball takes place from 8pm-midnight.

November 2-23:  Kona Coffee Cultural Festival
The annual Kona coffee harvest is celebrated during this festival with tastings, art exhibits, tours, and parades. Visit www.konacoffeefest.com for more info.

November 16-17:  Christmas Craft “EG”stravaganza
This holiday tradition is the premier craft fair on the island. Holiday music, door prizes, and great food make this a fun shopping experience for the whole family. From 5-10pm on Friday and 9am-3pm on Sunday at the Edith Kanakaole Multi-Purpose Stadium.

KAUAI
November 10-11:  Kauai Veterans Day Parade & Service
Kauai’s largest parade begins at 10am on Saturday at Kapaa Town and Beach Park with a celebration lasting until 4pm. On Sunday there will be a service from 11am-noon at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.

November 18:  Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival – Kauai Style
The Kauai Beach & Resort Hotel hosts the 20th annual slack key guitar festival from noon-6pm. Enjoy six hours of music from some of Hawaii’s finest practitioners. Local food and crafts will also be available for purchase.

November 30:  Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar & Ukulele Concert
From 4-6pm there will be a concert at Hanalei Community Center. Tickets cost $20 for adults with proceeds going towards the center.
